I haven’t done a Top 5 Wednesday in a while. If you would like to participate, check-out the GoodReads group here.

Favorite Jokesters
— In honor of April Fools (a bit late but hey, I don’t control when Wednesdays fall), talk about your favorite jokesters, pranksters, and funny characters.

For me, the best humour is the kind that has a little heart behind it.

In no particular order:

Leo Valdez – Heroes of Olympus Series by Rick Riordan

I have only read one book in this series so far, but Leo is already a favourite. He takes the class clown approach to life, yet is still a solid friend and equal contributor to the quest.

Sloane Winters  – Indexing Series by Seanan McGuire

In a world of fairytales made real, Sloane is the embodiment of an evil stepsister who controls her murderous tendencies with sarcasm. She also has a habit of stating the obvious and being exceedingly blunt.

Underneath it all, she cares about her teammates and is willing to do a lot to protect them.

Magnus Bane – Shadowhunters Chronicles by Cassandra Clare

One of the original smart ass characters. What more can you say about a warlock with a penchant for quippy T-shirts, one-liners, and glitter? He is also exceedingly loyal and surprisingly vulnerable.

Jesper Fahey – Six of Crows Duology by Leigh Bardugo

Another smart-alec character with a heart of gold. Jesper is my favourite character from the duology. He has an innate sense of when to make a snarky comment and when to be serious. Some of the snarky comments are priceless!

Hikaru and Kaoru  – Ouran High School Host Club by Bisco Hatori

A list of jokers would not be complete without these two. The whole premise of this manga series is hilarious, but these twins take it to a new level.

What are some of your favourite comic characters?
